Guest Post: Healthy Surprise Box Review

March 1, 2013

Hello everyone!

I am here as a guest blogger to share with you my experience of Healthy Surprise. Healthy Surprise is a monthly food subscription box that I found through Google. It had great reviews so I decided to give it a shot. The box contains organic, natural, soy free, gluten free, and vegan goodies that are delivered to you via a green looking cardboard box. I bought this box because I wanted to have some extra organic snacks lying around the house to munch on. I ordered the medium sized box which is $66 and promises 32-40 servings for 1-4 people. The box came with free shipping as well. The inside of the box is exciting and colorful.

Then, I proceeded to count all of the items inside the box. There are a total of 17 items in this box (big and small which includes:

Larger sized items:

1 Caveman Crunch- A granola and fruit snack packet
1 Barefruit Crunchy Cinnamon Apple Chips- All natural apple chips (they look delicious)
1 Sea Sprinkles Seaweed Snack Clusters
1 Ginger Snaps Super Cookies (darn zesty, crunchy, and tasty!)
1 Hail Merry Macaroons (These choco macaroons look tasty as well)
1 Gopal's Pumpkin Seed Sprouties Savory
1 bag of Home Free chocolate chip cookies (these were pretty standard)

Smaller sized items:

1 Healthy Warrior Chia seed fruit bar (quite interesting and fun to eat)
1 Sacred Chocolate Dairy Free Mylk chocolate heart
1 Scared Chocolate Dairy Free Twilight chocolate heart
1 Gopal's Raw Alchemy Enzyme Rich Brownie
1 Go Raw Spirulina Energy Bar
1 Hail Merry Grawnola orange cranberry raw nut & fruit blend (tastes healthy and yum)
1 That's It fruit bar (1 apple + 1 pear)

Tiny items:

3 small pieces of Righteously Raw chocolate (one was mint, one was dark, and one was spicy .35 oz each)

As tasty as Healthy Surprise is, I still feel like it's a bit expensive. I may feel this way because I wish I could have picked my snacks as well. Now, not to sound like a total grinch, but I wish there was more food in my box. However, if you don't live close to a Whole Foods or who are only looking for super natural items that taste great, this box is probably awesome for you. Also, if you love super high end organic chocolate, you'll probably love this box as well.

Here's the upside, the items in the box were really well selected and varied, and you could tell the company put a lot of thought into what was inside the box. Also, the snacks are really organic and vegan just like they promised. The packaging of the snacks is also desirable and eye catching. So far, what I've eaten has been absolutely delicious!! I'm not sure if I would pay $66 again for this box. I wish it were more along the lines of $50. Either way, the snacks inside tasted really good and I really loved eating them.

Well, that's all folks! I hope this review was helpful to you. :)

Influenster: Naturals VoxBox

September 25, 2012

I received my first Influenster box a couple weeks back! What is Influenster? You get invited to receive a box of products and exclusive deals. You can read more about it on their website here. One thing that caught my attention was that Influenster is NOT a subscription site! Everything is absolutely free, but qualifying for a box itself is a bit challenging. You're not guaranteed a box and I feel like it's all about luck.

So, I was really excited to receive the Naturals box, but found it to be slightly disappointing after I opened it. Whether it's a paid or free box, you can't win at every single item. When I first opened it, the first thing that caught my eye was the Lypsyl lip balm, which I already own. I personally really like this item, especially for the harsh winter months when your lips become extremely dry and chapped. So, for me, it's nice to just have an extra one. You can also check out their Facebook.

Second item that caught my eye was The Original Dish Drying Mat which I'm pretty sure if you've been to Bed Bath & Beyond, you've seen it. Even though this item retails at $4.99, I never thought to actually purchased it, so I'm glad to have received it for free. The mat itself is great for me even though I already own a dish drying rack, but you can only load it up so much. The mat is great for the extras that doesn't fit on your dish drying rack AND it doesn't soak through! Check out their Facebook.

The other items like GeoDeo, EBoost, Nectresse and Maxi-Hair Vitamins were on my least favorite items. The Nectresse wasn't too bad, but I haven't been using any sugar/sugar substitutes lately in my tea. I did try the GeoDeo and I personally don't care for it. It has a good smell, but protection wise is pretty weak. I still have yet to try EBOOST or the Max-Hair Vitamins. For me personally, I take enough pills and honestly, I'm just not interested at all.

For some reason, my emails are indicating I received CleanWell Wipes, which I did not receive, but I have used their wipes in the past thanks to Birchbox. I actually LOVE these wipes and I love that they don't have alcohol because sometimes alcohol dries out my hands. You can check out their Facebook.

I received these products complimentary for testing purposes from Influenster. I am not paid or sponsored by them, these are my own reviews.

Product Review: Unreal Candy

September 17, 2012

Bzz Agent is a site that helps bring people and their favorite brands together. You fill out some surveys and participate in their current campaigns which you can sign up and they send you coupons. In return, you help share your opinions with family, friends and all your favorite social medias.

I'm still fairly new to Bzz Agent, so when the unreal candy campaign started, I knew I wanted to jump on it, mainly because I like trying out new things. Who and what is Unreal candy? You can read about their story on their website which is pretty amazing considering if took a 13 year old boy named Michael who wanted to find out how to unjunk his favorite candies. So, if you're interested in candy without artificial ingredients, corn syrup and partially hydrogenated oils, read on!

Here is my review that I posted on Bzz Agent. Please note that I am not paid in any shape or form for my opinions or reviews.

I'm not gonna lie, I was a little skeptical, but also excited at the same time.

I was lucky to discover them at my local Walgreens here in the Pacific Northwest and the first bar I tried was Unreal8, which is an imitation of a Snickers bar. Right off the bat, it has a very mild taste compared to the original bar chock full of sugar and creamy caramel.

The next candy I tried was the Unreal 41 aka M&M's. The one thing I loved about this candy is that there is no Red40 or other artificial colors, BUT on my first few bites, I noticed that I can taste the vegetables that they used to dye the candy. It was a little off putting at first since you generally don't expect your chocolate to taste a bit like veggies. I'm not a big fan of this one.

My last candy I've tried is Unreal77 aka peanut butter cups. I would definitely recommend to try this candy first if you're a little iffy about Unreal candy. To me, this tastes just like the real deal, but without the toothache. Peanut butter could be a little creamy, but overall veryvery tasty.
